The Department of Modern Languages hosts programmes in modern languages and cultures. The Principal Investigator of this project, Dr Ting Guo, is Senior Lecturer in Translation Studies and Chinese.

The University of Glasgow is a public research university in Glasgow, Scotland, UK. Founded in 1451, it is the fourth oldest university in the English-speaking world. It was ranked 67th in the world in the 2020 QS World University Rankings. The School of Modern Languages and Cultures hosts programmes in modern languages, Comparative Literature and Translation Studies.  The co-investigator of the project, Dr Jonathan Evans, is Senior Lecturer in Translation Studies.

Jihua

Jihua is an online community which shares and translates lesbian related content from films, novels and others sources. Founded in 2011, it has a subtitling team since 2013. Jihua is contributing to the project through sharing its archives, translating materials, providing support for events and through interviews.

QAFone

qafone.co
QAFone (qaf.co) is an online Chinese community focusing on producing and sharing translated gay media content. Initially it was a Chinese Bulletin Board BBS (www.qaf.cn) named after the well-known American “Queer as Folk” drama series. The site was founded by a group of Chinese fans in Sept 2004 when the fourth season was broadcast. QAFone is contributing to the project through sharing its archives, translating materials,  providing support for events and through interviews.

Image result for aibaiAibai Culture and Education Centre is dedicated to providing crucial information on Chinese-speaking LGBT around the world, advocating understanding and acceptance of LGBT wherever they are, and thereby seeking to encourage societal tolerance and equality. Aibai is contributing to the project through supporting events and translation services. The project’s Research Associate is based here.
