I am a third-year student studying Art History & Visual Culture and History. I have been volunteering at the Bill Douglas Cinema Museum since September 2019, cataloguing a collection of film stills and publicity material. I also work at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum as a member of the Youth Panel which involves shaping exhibitions and events in order to maximise the engagement of younger audiences. This has entailed working on ‘untold stories’ projects such as object displays relating to the hidden histories of neglected communities. I am interested in curation and issues of representation through visual culture both in the past and present day.

I am a third-year student in Art History & Visual Culture and English student at the University of Exeter, with a specific interest in decolonisation and postcolonial ecological studies. I began volunteering at the Bill Douglas Cinema Museum in September of 2020, as I wanted to gain some experience working directly within a museum and develop my interest and understanding of film and cinema. I have been working on a special collection, cataloging a donation of a lifetime’s collection of silent film stills from the early 20th century. I have previously completed an art foundation degree, which allows me to approach all my academic projects with the eye of both creator and critic. This particular research project will allow me to combine my interests in curation and cataloging, as well as a personal interest in China, as I lived there when I was a child.
